Credits and nanites only have worth up to a certain point, such as once you have all building schematics, which only improve your enjoyment because they unlock more creative freedom- not some sort of "edge" or "advantage". It's about the journey, there is no end goal. About finding different interesting ships, creatures, terrains, cave systems (don't forget to explore under water!). It's about finding many perfect planets and systems, all being unique and perfect in their way. Those are all the micros, not the macros of enjoyment factors offered in nms. It's not about finding the (your) perfect planet or ship. There are lots of Star Wars games currently in development, including three new games from Respawn and a Knights of the Old Republic remake from Aspyr.The game isn't really about money, nanite, or anything material like that.
